Project POA (Piemonte On Air):
a portal of Piedmont Region and of services via DTT
Following the launch of Digital Terrestrial Television in 2004, a number of initiatives aiming at the development enhanced TV applications and public interest services for the citizens have been undertaken. The latest were deployed in cooperation with the Public Administration and Local Authorities also taking into account the possibility to regionalise the broadcasting network. The Rai Research Centre, in cooperation with the Piemonte Region, has developed the first “regional” interactive portal on DTT which is on-air since February 2005. The portal, whose contents are also taken from Internet pages, has been designed for being accessed by MHP interactive decoders.

The Centre for Research and Technological Innovation of Rai, in coordination with Technological Strategies and Social Secretariat, presented at the Forum dedicated at application and services of Public Administration, a system to broadcast, via digital terrestrial television, an elective service, activated by the user, of description in L.I.S (Italian Sign Language). The window with the interpreter, superimposed on the main programme, can be re-positioned inside the screen area and scaled in order to satify the user preferences and viewing distance.
