System for Automatic Audio Video Service Production for Mobile TV and Mobile Web
This paper describes an innovative prototype system implemented to create multimedia services addressed to mobile users, starting from automatically retrieved and processed archive contents or from User Generated Contents. The system targets both broadcasting Mobile TV on DVB-H and interactive mobile web, both usable from handheld devices. Two pilot services based on the prototype system, available for experimental purposes over the area of Torino, are also described. The first pilot service is based on the automatic creation of a thematic news channel built up using contents from the Regional News, the second one allows to distribute User Generated Contents |

Distortions in classic stereoscopy
The stereoscopic production process introduces distortions, avoidable only with specific system configurations. Some distortions depend on the geometrical configuration of the shooting system, others depend on the lenses, others are generated by the display techniques. In this paper, a survey on the more important distortions is reported. In addition, the negative effects are analysed in order to find possible countermeasures. |

Detection, Correction and Concealing of Errors
With this set of papers, we intend to provide basic information useful to understand the thecniques and the digital systems which are widely adopted in the television field. This first part is an introduction to techniques used to protect from channel errors and is mainly focused on block codes and on applications of Reed Solomon codes in the television field, i.e. DVB standards of first generation and magnetic and optical recording. In the next issue, a second part deals with convolutional codes and techniques used, for instance, in the second generation DVB standards. |
