GPS receiver for SFN - Analysis of long-term stability
and operational conditions of hold over,
with verification of the 10 MHz phase recovery
by Andrea Bertella, Bruno Sacco, Mirto Tabone, Carlo Confalonieri and Aldo Scotti
The objective of the survey illustrated in this article is to define a method for the verification of the behavior of GPS receivers used in SFN networks, both in nominal operating conditions and in the case of events, single or repeated, leading to conditions of Hold over. Specific attention is given to the recovery of the phase of the reference frequency at 10 MHz. The results have required several weeks of tests on a range of GPS equipment and the development of a suitable hardware to check for anomalies occurring in different operational conditions.
