P. Sunna Analyses of video quality for webcasting applications In 2001, the EBU group B/VIM (Video in Multimedia) was set up to study and define a subjective methodology for the evaluation of the video quality in the framework of multimedia applications. The context is the usage of codecs for web (Windows Media, Real Video, Mpeg4.) which, compressing the video signal to allow its transmission through the typical bandwidth availlable via Internet, introduce impairments on the perceived quality by final user. The article introduces the methodology proposed by the EBU group, the kind of tests implemented and the obtained preliminary results. |

Falletto A DVD by Rai Teche: considerations on the flexibility of the medium Rai Teche (responsible for the Archives of Rai) has produced the documentary "journey through the television memory of Rai". The article is about the implementation of a DVD based on the documentary: the features in terms of versatility of the medium are exploited to allow an easy navigation through the large number of "chapters" constituting the DVD, a selection of video clips corresponding the most significant and emotional instants of the history of television. |
