TAG: Set-top boxes

A set-top box (STB) or set-top unit (STU), or nowadays known as a cable box is an information appliance device that generally contains a TV-tuner input and displays output to a television set and an external source of signal, turning the source signal into content in a form that can then be displayed on the television screen or other display device. They are used in cable television, satellite television, and over-the-air televisionsystems, as well as other uses.

Graphics for connected devices

Smart TVs and set-top-boxes of last generation embed GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), that allow high quality 3D graphics, and support advanced remote controls (i.e., pointer, gesture detection and interpretation, etc.). These new capabilities can be exploited to deliver appealing user interfaces and interactive experiences including gaming.
