On the final day of the 49th FIAT/IFTA Annual Conference, Laurent Boch and Silvia Proscia from CRITS presented the project “Evaluation of Mass Digitisation through Retrospective Quality Control.”

The prestigious international FIAT/IFTA “Excellence in Media Preservation Award 2025” has been awarded to the project “RAI Newsreels Digitisation – From 16mm Films to High Quality Master Files”, dedicated to the digitisation of RAI’s newsreel films (1952–1985).

CRITS contributes to the training initiative

For the first time in more than 25 years the FIAT/IFTA Executive Council and the IASA Board have decided to join forces and organize a joint conference with an integrated programme.

Last December the neo dott. Ing. Giuliano Cammarata graduated with a 110/110 score at the Polytechnic of Turin with the thesis entitled “The preservation of films. Strategies for scanning, archiving and restoration proposed as part of the DigiMaster RAI project“. The thesis, starting from the practical experience of internship carried out at Centro Ricerche, Innovazione Tecnologica e Sperimentazione (CRITS), investigates the digitalization and digital preservation workflows of films with special focus on 35mm format.

On October the 9th, at the FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2018 hosted by RAI in Palazzo Labia Venice, RAI CRITS and RAI Teche  contributed to the Workshop  on “Mass Digitisation with a Focus on Film” with the presentation “The experience of RAI DigiMaster Project, in progress…“
